When we print silk business cards, we use the same 16 pt paper as our Classic Business Cards to provide you with a thick and heavy card for (maximum) effect.
The silky feel comes from the thin plastic lamination that is applied after printing. It provides extra layers of protection, making your cards' surface water resistant while at the same time giving your cards a satisfying look and feel.
The spot UV process pairs up very well with silk laminated cards. The high shine created by the UV coating stands out very well on the muted finish of the lamination. Your cards end up with an interesting combination of visual and tactile effects.
A logo, a color, or a message is accentuated through the Spot UV process by coating only the selected area. However, go a step further in creativity and use a blind Spot UV method ? show your message using the Spot UV layer without having a printed text underneath it, works well when a solid black is printed.
When sending over files for an order using Spot UV, be sure to include a separate file containing only the Spot UV mask. It's a file containing a blacked out version of the areas where you want the UV Coating to be applied. New to the idea of Spot UV?
